Rapha House - Kenya

Rapha House Kenya is a not-for-profit organization established in Mombasa, Kenya. The city of Mombasa is 80% Muslim with a large Hindu community, and a severe problem with drug and human trafficking, prostitution, violence, disease, poverty, and as a result: kids surviving in the streets. Unfortunately with these daunting conditions, terrorist groups have begun to target the underprivileged youth enticing them with money to join their forces. For the past 9 years, the Rapha House has had the privilege of setting root in the street community and taking these precious ones from the midst of destruction, from dust, and watching them transform into diamonds.

The Rapha House is a family, a collection of differing ages, tribes, and nations who were formally from the streets, now living under a roof together. Around 15 Rapha Family members are now students going back to school, others are pursing athletics, Bible schools, and missions. The reason the Rapha House has been so successful with the youth in the streets is simply: it’s a family, we live together, we eat together, we study the Word together, we pray together. The other reason proven true year after year: God changes people’s lives when we pray.

The Rapha Family has decided to give back to the city of Mombasa by opening a youth project to reach out to the countless lost and broken youth in the city. We have chosen to open a coffee house, skate park, and prayer room. Preparations have begun to start with a café as it creates a safe environment for youth to interact and hang out. Through the café we will be able to hold Christ-centered events which will give youth a positive place to seek refuge. We will have a musical stage and invite artists to perform and hold events. We will be able to offer jobs to local youth and create a training program for street youth to learn job skills, train, and earn a salary. The café will enable the non-profit to create self-sustainability and eventually save funds for the skate park and prayer room venues, and provide schooling for more students.

Thank you for your interest in our family and the work of God in Kenya, specifically the great needs of the people in Mombasa.
